"Earning the ECOPA Scholarship was such an honor; not only because it offered financial assistance, but because of the lasting support the organization has offered throughout my aviation training. After being awarded the scholarship, I have since earned my private and instrument ratings. The community within the ECOPA is incredibly encouraging, and I certainly could not be where I am today without its support."

Victoria Lorenzon, 2018 Scholarship Recipient

With the scholarship's financial support, I gained flying hours to enhance my aviation résumé. This helped me get hired as a C-17 pilot at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, which has been my lifelong career goal. Earning the scholarship meant so much to me because it created opportunities that I had only dreamed of throughout my life.” -  Logan Coy Sisca, 2018 Scholarship Recipient

When an entire pilots association gets behind you it really boosts your own belief in yourself. Since receiving the scholarship earned my private, instrument, commercial, multi-engine, flight instructor, CFI-Instrument, Instrument Ground Instructor, and Advanced Ground Instructor while studying Finance at Miami University’s Farmer School of Business.” -  Griffin James, 2016 Scholarship Recipient

Frequently Asked Questions

+ Are log books available for inspection?

Log books are available for inspection in person. An electronic copy is not yet available.

+ Can I view the aircraft?

Yes. You must schedule the visit by emailing at ecopapilot@gmail.com with the subject "Attention Raffle Committee."

+ Is the aircraft registration history available?

Aircraft Registration History is available on the FAA Aircraft Registry Website.

+ Do you have to be a US Citizen to purchase a raffle ticket?

No. However, the winner must be able to comply with the Aircraft Registration Requirements outlined in 14 CFR Part 47.

+ What do I do if I don’t get my ticket numbers?

There are many factors that would prevent emails from making it into your inbox, but primarily the culprit is spam and junk mail filters intercepting your mail. Check your spam folder for your ticket number(s).

If you still don’t see them, no problem! Send an email to ecopapilot@gmail.com and request to have your ticket numbers re-sent to you. It is important that you include your first and last name, your mailing address, and your email address so that we can properly identify you in the database.

+ How do ticket numbers work?

The raffle ticket numbers you receive are your transaction number, followed by the number of tickets you purchased. For example, if you bought one ticket and your number was this:

#757575757571

What it literally is, the transaction number followed by the number of tickets purchased. It helps to insert a hyphen like this: #75757575757–1.

Using the same example, three tickets are sold, they would look like this:

#757575757571    #757575757572    #757575757573

OR

#75757575757–1  #75757575757–2    #75757575757–3

Using the same example, 10 or more tickets are sold, they would look like this:

#75757575757–9   #75757575757–10   #75757575757–11

+ Are my raffle ticket purchases tax exempt?

The cost of a raffle ticket is not deductible as a charitable contribution. The IRS considers a raffle ticket to be a contribution from which you benefit. If you receive a benefit from making a donation, you can only deduct the amount of your donation that is greater than the value of the benefit you receive. The IRS explicitly prohibits deducting the cost of raffle tickets as a charitable contribution.
