Cleveland National Air Show, A Look Behind the Curtain
✈️ Kim Dell, Executive director Cleveland National Air Show
Kim Dell has been in the Air Show industry for 35+ years and involved in the production of 50+ aviation related events in Cleveland, Atlantic City, Columbus, Dayton, Detroit, Denver and Miami. In 2015, Kim became the first female Executive Director of the Cleveland National Air Show.
Kim is responsible for the operation and management of the Air Show including, but not limited to, administration/legal, finance/ticketing, promotion/advertising, marketing, air operations, facility preparation and logistics/volunteer coordination.
Kim has received numerous Marketing Awards from the International Council of Air Shows and was the first recipient of the Women in Air Shows Award recognizing women who advance the Air Show business as a professional career path for women. In 2025, Kim received the Katharine Wright Trophy from the National Aeronautic Association, awarded annually to an individual who has made a personal contribution to the advancement of the art, sport, and science of aviation and space flight over an extended period.
Kim has a degree in Speech Communications and Business/Marketing from Baldwin-Wallace College (BW) and is a recipient of the BW Alumni Merit Award, for leadership of the Cleveland National Air Show and contributions to the air show industry.
The Cleveland National Air Show is 60+ years old The Labor Day Weekend tradition attracts 60,000 to 100,000 spectators to Burke Lakefront Airport located along the shores of Lake Erie in downtown Cleveland, Ohio next to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. (An equal number of visitors view the Air Show from parks, beaches, buildings and boats on Lake Erie.)
The Air Show annually attracts attendees from 48+ states and several countries. Nationally recognized by Air Show organizers, the aerospace industry and fans as one of the most prestigious aviation events in the country – the Cleveland National Air Show was named Air Show of the Year by World Airshow News Magazine.
The Air Show is Northeast Ohio’s Largest Military Event and all branches of the Armed Forces are invited to participate and showcase the quality personnel, equipment and opportunities offered by today’s U.S. Military Service to a large public audience.
