Welcome to the East Central Ohio Pilots Association

The East Central Ohio Pilots Association is one of the most established pilot groups in the nation serving our regional aviation community.  Organized in 1962, the purpose of the Association is to promote General Aviation and voice an opinion on Government Legislation, Rules and Regulations that affect General Aviation.  An active history includes coordinating educational events, hosting social activities, civic involvement, and providing flight scholarship funding.  The Organization also provides Social and Recreational Activities for Members and Friends.  Membership is comprised of both active and retired, private and commercial pilots, and others involved in aviation.

Our associated entity, the ECOPA Education & Safety Foundation, is recognized as a 501 c3 not for profit corporation.

ECOPA Scholarship Fundraiser Dinner Nov. 18th at Raintree Country Club

In 2012, our Education and Safety Foundation received 501(c)3 tax exempt status. Our auction that year raised enough money to provide four $2000 flight scholarships in 2013. Three of the four recipients have obtained their Private Pilot certificates. In 2014, we awarded another three $2000 scholarships and all of those recipients now have their Private certificates. Another auction provided funds for three more $2000 awards in 2015 and two of those are Private Pilots. In 2016, three more $2000 scholarships were presented. One of those has his Private and the other two have soloed. So that’s four years of presenting flight scholarships totaling $23000 and nine new general aviation pilots! In order to continue supporting the program we need your help to replenish the funds. This year our flight scholarship fundraiser/dinner/program will be on Friday, November 18th at Raintree Country Club. We will have items available in a silent auction and others by Chinese auction (raffle). Some of the items up for grabs include: themed baskets, gift certificates, golf outings, and aviation related items. Since this event provides the majority of the scholarship funds, we need your support by attending and buying or sending a cash donation.  Thank you in advance for your support! As a bonus at this year’s dinner, we will also have member Mike Grossmann of Castle Aviation speaking about Veterans Airlift Command and the missions he has flown for them. VAC is a national network of volunteer pilots and aircraft owners who provide free air transportation to medical facilities for combat wounded veterans and their families. It is an admirable service that Mike provides for... read more

Rootin’ Tootin’ Hoedown at AKR Saturday, October 1st

You and your pilot (and non-pilot) friends are invited to an aviation party of epic proportion!  Enjoy live foot-stomping country/bluegrass music and a good old-fashioned square dance by a professional caller.  Between dances there will be some easy line dancing lessons. Experience NOT necessary. It’s easy: 1) The caller tells you what to do. 2) You forget because you weren’t really listening. 3) You bump into people. 4) You have another beer. Dozens do this simultaneously. Join the action or just sit back, watch, and listen. The band is FAN-TAS-TIC! We will be serving steak and chicken and a couple of sides but we’d love if you brought a side to share (appetizer, side, salad, dessert, booze, whatever!) Dinner and bar start at 5:30 and the hootin’ and hollerin’ starts at 5:45! This hoedown is free for ECOPA members and only $12 for non-ECOPA-members. Please click HERE for eventbrite, or email rsvp.ecopa@gmail.com to rsvp so we can get a head count for food. Dig out your cowboy hat and boots, saddle up your horse, plane, iron pony, go-kart – just get here and be ready to... read more
