Welcome to the East Central Ohio Pilots Association

The East Central Ohio Pilots Association is one of the most established pilot groups in the nation serving our regional aviation community.  Organized in 1962, the purpose of the Association is to promote General Aviation and voice an opinion on Government Legislation, Rules and Regulations that affect General Aviation.  An active history includes coordinating educational events, hosting social activities, civic involvement, and providing flight scholarship funding.  The Organization also provides Social and Recreational Activities for Members and Friends.  Membership is comprised of both active and retired, private and commercial pilots, and others involved in aviation.

Our associated entity, the ECOPA Education & Safety Foundation, is recognized as a 501 c3 not for profit corporation.

Doreen Welsh, Flight Attendant of “Miracle on the Hudson”, to speak at our Spring Banquet on March 24th!

We have a very exciting program for this year’s ECOPA Spring Banquet on March 24th! “Ninety Seconds to Impact!” When US Airways Flight 1549 crash-landed into New York’s Hudson River in 2010, Doreen Welsh thought that her life was over. Doreen had been working as a flight attendant for 38 years and says that she`s had some interesting incidents in her career, but none like the experience that was to become known as the “Miracle on the Hudson.” If you had only 90 seconds to focus the survival skills of those around you, what would you do? This is the question Doreen asks, it’s the question she answers, it’s the story she tells – it’s the story that has audiences in tears one minute and laughing out loud the next. Doreen will take us on the emotional journey of that fateful day which became known as The Miracle on the Hudson. Doreen likes to say that had one person perished during that crash it would have been known as the US Airways Flight 1549 crash. Because of the heroic deeds of five crewmembers – who had never met until that day – it was a miracle! As Doreen likes to say, “What would you do if you only had “90 Seconds to (make an) Impact?” Purchase tickets now on Eventbrite!... read more
