Raffle Drawing Postponement Announcement

Due to COVID-19, Ohio’s Governor Mike Dewine and Ohio Director of Health Amy Acton have  issued a “Stay At Home Order” in effect for non-essential activities. It is with deep regret that we are announcing the postponement of our raffle drawing. It is the unanimous opinion of ECOPA’s raffle committee to respect this order as responsible citizens of Ohio

Out of respect for those who have already purchased tickets and as per our Terms and Conditions, Line Item #2 “ Ticket sales will cease when 4,000 tickets have been sold or at 1:00 AM on April 4, 2020, whichever occurs first. In the event anyone buys a ticket after the 4,000 allocated tickets have been sold, such purchase will be refunded.”

The Ohio Governor’s Office has extended the “Stay at Home Order." In view of this extension, we are TENTATIVELY rescheduling the pulling of our winning tickets to June 6, 2020.

You can visit our website (ecopapilot.com) for updates regarding the revised drawing date and for additional information.

Please accept our deepest apologies for this postponement as we all look forward to getting back to some degree of normalcy. Thank you in advance for your understanding of this matter.

Each ticket has a chance of winning one of 5 prizes:

 Cessna 150-H (N7128S)

Grand Prize Details

Our Raffle Airplane is a sparkling clean 1967 Cessna 150H with less than 2,600 hours on the airframe and 580 hours since its major engine overhaul. It has never been used as a trainer, has no damage history and no corrosion. Its next annual inspection isn’t due until October 2020. It is fully compliant with the new ADS-B Out requirement and is equipped with a Garmin 430 (Non-WAAS) GPS, (1) Nav/Comm Radio and dual VOR’s. The logbooks are complete and there are a number of other important features: Wing-Tip Strobes and a new Beacon, New Tires, Stainless Steel Brake Drums, a Stainless Steel Exhaust, a recently balanced propeller, an intercom, and shoulder harnesses.

This would be a great bird to take a friend flying, earn your Private Pilot Certificate, or build your time.

2020 Raffle Rules

All proceeds from this raffle will support the ECOPA Safety and Education Foundation.

With the scholarship's financial support, I gained flying hours to enhance my aviation résumé. This helped me get hired as a C-17 pilot at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, which has been my lifelong career goal. Earning the scholarship meant so much to me because it created opportunities that I had only dreamed of throughout my life.

Logan Coy Sisca, 2018 Scholarship Recipient

When an entire pilots association gets behind you it really boosts your own belief in yourself. Since receiving the scholarship earned my private, instrument, commercial, multi engine, flight instructor, CFI-Instrument, Instrument Ground Instructor, and Advanced Ground Instructor while studying Finance at Miami University’s Farmer School of Business.”

Frequently Asked Questions

+ Are log books available for inspection?

Log books are available for inspection in person. An electronic copy is not yet available.

+ Can I view the aircraft?

Yes. You must schedule the visit with Ron Becker via email at ecopapilot@gmail.com.

+ Is the aircraft registration history available?

Aircraft Registration History is available on the FAA Aircraft Registry Website.

+ Do you have to be a US Citizen to purchase a raffle ticket?

No. However, the winner must be able to comply with the Aircraft Registration Requirements outlined in 14 CFR Part 47.

+ What do I do if I don’t get my ticket numbers?

There are many factors that would prevent emails from making it into your inbox, but primarily the culprit is spam and junk mail filters intercepting your mail. Check your spam folder for your ticket number(s).

If you still don’t see them, no problem! Send an email to ecopapilot@gmail.com and request to have your ticket numbers re-sent to you. It is important that you include your first and last name, your mailing address, and your email address so that we can properly identify you in the database.

+ How do ticket numbers work?

The raffle ticket numbers you receive are your transaction number, followed by the number of tickets you purchased. For example, if you bought one ticket and your number was this:

What it literally is, the transaction number followed by the number of tickets purchased. It helps to insert a hyphen like this: #75757575757–1.

Using the same example, three tickets are sold, they would look like this:

Using the same example, 10 or more tickets are sold, they would look like this:

+ Are my raffle ticket purchases tax exempt?

The cost of a raffle ticket is not deductible as a charitable contribution. The IRS considers a raffle ticket to be a contribution from which you benefit. If you receive a benefit from making a donation, you can only deduct the amount of your donation that is greater than the value of the benefit you receive. The IRS explicitly prohibits deducting the cost of raffle tickets as a charitable contribution.
